Celebrating the Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice is the midpoint of the year; a time that we acknowledge and celebrate the longest hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere and the longest hours of darkness in the southern hemisphere. This is a symbolic time of contrast between the light and dark, the ebb and flow and everything in between.

The Solstice is celebrated globally in many different ways including:

  • Solstice Fires in Tyrol, Austria. This is an Alpine tradition where mountain fires were ignited to worship the earth. This tradition dates back to medieval times.
  • Solstice Salutations in Times Square. This is a day-long devotion to yoga practice which is open to every level.
  • Mount Olympus Trek in Greece.  According to some versions of the Greek Calendar, the Summer Solstice marks the first day of the year. To date, thousands of locals trek up Mount Olympus. This has been  a 2500 year old tradition.
  • Stonehenge, England.  On the dawn of the Solstice, the sun rises directly above the Heel Stone of Stonehenge. Nearly 40,000 spectators gather to dance, drum and celebrate this day.

The Summer Solstice is a powerful time for reflection and vision setting. We are all familiar with the end of year reflection and new year resolutions/soulutions.

What about creating a midyear practice as well? So much living, lessons and blessings transpire over the course of six months…

It’s not always pleasant and it’s not always pretty to reflect. Beauty, I can promise you it is powerful and empowering. Reflection creates a sense of illuminated resilience that can transform into powerful creation.

After you spend some reflecting on the previous six months, now it’s time to begin calling forth a clearer vision for your second half of the year.

Now, close your eyes and take a deep breathe in and exhale. Feel it, see it, embrace it. Trust in the timing and trust in your worth of receiving all that you need and deserve.

I want to share some tools to enhance your Summer Solstice experience:

  • Sip a cup of chamomile tea. Chamomile soothes the spirit and invites prosperity and love into your realm.
  • Place an orange or tangerine outside to soak up the sun’s energy during the day, then enjoy eating it during your ritual
  • Buy yourself a bouquet of yellow or orange flowers to connect with your solar plexus ‘center of empowerment’
  • Immerse yourself in water.  Soak, swim, float.
  • Ignite your inner fire. Light a candle and gaze at the flame. Infuse the flame with your intentions.

Labor Day Weekend is upon us. I feel like we were just celebrating Memorial Day Weekend! Woo, what a summer! It was filled with adventure and a full sensory experience for me... I will share my adventures with you soon:)

When I think of a word that describes my summer, it's 'Juiciness'... This word invokes a sensation of bright colors and deliciousness in every sense... Lushness in experience, food, drinks, people and places.. It was a summer filled with planes, ferries, shuttles, taxis, wooden carts (yep), treehouses, mountain villages, European sea towns, beaches and much more to be revealed later...

As I pour myself a cucumber mint mocktail, I toast to the Summer of 2016 with a bow of gratitude for awakening my senses and being open to magic and adventure. Thank you!

What is a Yoni Steam?

You may have come across the lingo through Gwyneth Paltrow or Tia and Tamera’s blogs…forget about the Hollywood buzz. The art of vaginal steaming dates back thousands of years through indigenous African, Mayan, Native American, Caribbean, and Asian cultures. It is mentioned in early chronicles of Spanish friars.

A yoni steam is a warm steam bath for the vagina. It combines a customized blend of herbs and warm steam generated from a pot beneath a seat.

Yoni translates to ‘sacred seat' all encompassing of the reproductive system: physically, emotionally and spiritually. 

Why would I do such a thing?

A yoni steam is a gentle way to bring warm steam and heat to the pelvis and to the womb, increasing circulation and energy flow. The moist heat opens up the pores of the tissues and the herbal infusion offers the medicinal benefits of the plants. The vaginal tissue is one of the most porous and absorbent of the entire female body. As a result, the steam is supportive for women’s reproductive, urinary and digestive health.

The customized blend of herbs is crafted together based on a client’s intake of her health concerns, symptoms and focus points.

A yoni steam is a very gentle process that does not involve any sort of high-pressure application of hot water or steam. The steam does not enter through the vagina itself, but rather the porous exterior tissues.

How long do I steam for?

The herbal infusion is placed into a pot beneath a yoni seat. During the session, a woman will sit comfortable on the seat. She is dressed comfortably and wrapped in a blanket to keep the body temperature warm. The steam session will last anywhere from 20-45 minutes. This time is devoted to breathing, meditating, reading, journaling and moving into a place of self-care.

Whether you are on the go, heading to the beach for some sacred morning time or you are in need a boost of energy, this simple smoothie will provide you the nourishment you need.

These days, life has been busy, busy and I know that if I don't fuel my body in the morning, I will not have the energy I need to get through the day.. We all know what happens when we go for too long without eating....the hangry goddess makes an appearance..and she is not invited.


  • 1 Cup of Almond Milk 
  • 1 Tablespoon of Nut Butter
  • 1 Tablespoons of Bee Pollen
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Cacao 
  • 1 Handfull of Spinach
  • 1.5 Frozen Banana 


  1. Place all ingredients into blender
  2. Blend until consistency desired
  3. Enjoy

I've combined some of my favorite ingredients into this smoothie which taste good, support my adrenals and give me the energy I need. Feel free to experiment with flavor combinations that you enjoy!

How to Have Glowing Skin all Summer Long

Enjoy the plethora of local produce available at farmer's markets this summer. Stock up on these beauties from the Earth. Invoke your creative side in the kitchen as you mix up new flavor combinations for your smoothies, raw soups and salads. Increase your intake of greens for liver lovin' support. Greens also support kidney health which will help reduce excessive swelling in the body.



Swim, bathe, float. Get your body in the water! If you live near Mother Ocean, celebrate it and jump in! The salt water is deeply nourishing and purifying. It will also calm and soothe the body. When you are in the shower, finish with a blast of cold water over the whole body to support circulation.


It's no secret that I am a deep lover of supporting the lymphatic system. This system acts like the silent garbage truck traveling through the body, removing waste. When it is blocked, we experience decreased immunity, stagnant blood flow and poor skin tone. Activate and support it by using a dry skin brush every day! 'Tis the season for slowing down and savoring the warm days that are upon us. We've found ourselves dabbling in early summer weather here on the east coast, and I am loving every minute of it!!

We can witness the transition into the vibrant season with farmer's markets popping up and late spring/early summer produce is abundant.

I was delighted when I was strolling through a GreenMarket in New York City and came upon bunches and bunches and bunches of fresh chamomile.

Can you imagine the aroma these beauties exuded?  The sweet smell can immediately calm a busy mind.

Chamomile is used to support digestive health and soothe the nervous system. It contains anti-inflammatory properties, which support reducing pain due to rheumatism, arthritis, and other painful swellings. 

Chamomile is used as an antispasmodic for menstrual cramps and gas pains.

We use chamomile in our womb wellness services as it is soothing to vaginal tissues.

In herbal folklore and myths, chamomile is believed to attract money and good fortune. 

When a handful of chamomile is added to a bath, it is believed to attract love.

When sprinkled around the house, chamomile repels negative energy, curses and spells, while bringing in good and prosperous fortune to the residents.

Ascetically, the natural chemicals of the blooms combine to bring out blonde undertones in hair and don't cause hair to dry out in the process!

Aside from the many health benefits that chamomile offers, it is quite comforting to sip a cup of chamomile tea (or iced tea during the summer months).


I would like to share a few simple recipes on how to enjoy this beauty.

As a soothing tea: 1 cup boiling water add 2 tsp. dried flowers. Steep covered for 10 min.

Add the flowers to a salad! They are edible and quite tasty, as well as beautiful!

For a relaxing bath: Use up to 1 cup fresh or dried herb tied in tea/linen. bag. Place in tub with hot water. Try to avoid adding soap to bath, as it will coat your skin and not allow the benefits of the chamomile to be absorbed. Light a candle on the side of the bath and enjoy!
